We've all been there, you sit down to write a blog post and nothing. Nada. Tumble weed. Sometimes its just doesn't happen, and sometimes it all seems a little samey, a bit to 'try hard' maybe. It all feels a bit dull and un-motivational. Thankfully this doesn't have to last forever - soon the ideas will come flooding back, you just need some new inspiration.
This has happened to me lately, I just haven't felt inspired or excited to blog as much as I used to and I'm pretty sure most of you can relate at sometime or another. I blame my hectic schedule, but there's a few things I've been putting into place some to help me out of my rut and start the creative flow going again, hopefully some of you will find these ideas useful too...
Take a Break
Have a little me time, take some time out and give your brain time to rest and recharge. There's no use forcing a post, and there's no harm in taking a few days off from blogging/creating or even just from social media. Take a walk, spend some time with loved ones, have a picnic in the sun or watch your favourite movie. If you recharge your batteries now and again chances are you'll be hit with your brightest ideas and be ready to create something really fabulous.
Have A Grand Tidy/Clear Out
Spending a little time tidying up your home can really do wonders for the soul. I know it sounds boring, but I love a good clear out. I find it so cleansing and I always feel so much better when I've had a good 'ol sort out. Plus working in a clear organised space can really help your concentration. I can't relax in mess and certainly can't work in it. Tidying always leads to finding things and re-loving old forgotten favourites, which may inspire you to write that blog post. (I wrote a little more about tidying your beauty stash here if your interested).
Surround Yourself with Inspiration
Pintrest, Instagram, Bloglovin and We Heart It are all favourite sources of inspiration. I love looking at pretty images and reading new blogs, it can really spark some ideas for new blog posts or instagram pictures. Plus magazines and re reading favourite books can be really motivational. I've just re read 'The French Beauty Solution' which has me all excited to be healthy and 'Love Style Life' is a great inspirational book to refer back to. Plus I love the 'Explore' button on Bloglovin! It's good to discover new content, I always get excited when I discover a new amazing blog to read.
Find Inspiration In Alternative Places.
Step out of the norm and go somewhere new, maybe an alternative coffee shop and do a spot people watching, visit a gallery or even just shop somewhere new. Take your camera, note book or whatever floats your boat and enjoy some new surroundings. It's refreshing on the senses to take in somewhere new and its always exciting visiting different places you've not been before. Hopefully this will spark your creative juices and you'll overflowing with ideas in no time!
If all else fails take a nap. Have an early night, there's no use struggling through. Catch up on some sleep and you'll feel a hundred times better! Trust Me!!
Hope you've found these tips useful? What do you do to get yourself out of a creative rut?
