The Town House at the Kensington Hotel might just be my new favourite spot in London. Located in the heart of Kensington (just off Brompton Road), the Town house is just the most idyllic place for breakfast, brunch, dinner or afternoon tea with the girls.
My friend Amanda and I went for brunch last Sunday after visiting the Undressed exhibition at the V&A. As soon as we approached the Town House we instantly fell in love. The front terrace is just picture perfect with its mono striped seating, perfectly placed topiary, huge mirrors and a cute vintage bike all waiting to be snapped!
Inside the 19th Century boutique hotel, the atmosphere is so relaxed and peaceful - not at all intimidating like some hotspots in London can be. We were greeted by friendly staff who showed us through to the restaurant where we had booked brunch. As we walked through the contemporary styled Town House, we were oohing and ahhing at the beautiful decor; wood panelled walls, huge sunny bay windows, parquet flooring, gorgeous chandeliers and sophisticated upholstery. The lounge where Afternoon Tea is served, is particularly stunning and super instagramable! The beautiful scent of Neom's Tranquillity candle fills the room adding a yet another luxurious touch to the already beautiful Town House.
Our waiter Sandros was super friendly and extremely knowledgeable, he told us a little about the history of the Town House, a bit behind the inspiration of the Interior design and also recommended other spots to visit in London's museum quarter.
The brunch menu has a wide variety of options (there's even dessert) and is served up until 5pm. We both chose Avocado on Toast with poached egg which was delicious. I'm not a serious foodie but I like to be well fed and this was just divine. We also shared the pancakes and couldn't decide on bacon and maple syrup or creme fraiche and blueberries. So Sandros brought us a selection of both and we finished this off with a refreshing pot of breakfast tea. (sorry no photos of the pancakes we dived in to quick to eat them!)
The Kensington Town House wasn't overly busy and we sat chatting for hours in the library style restaurant (complete with real open fires with marble mantels) and really didn't want to leave. The restaurant links through to the stunning K bar which is also well worth a visit. Styled like a gentleman's club, six seriously amazing chandeliers light the room, which homes a beautiful green marble bar, plush seating and a cocktail menu worthy of a little splurge. We popped our heads in to take a few pics and lust over the decor. After brunch we eventually peeled ourselves from the (ridiculously comfy) dinning chairs and relaxed in the lounge with a glass of prosecco whilst chatting to some fellow guests. It really was the most perfect venue and we're already planning our next visit for afternoon tea.
If your thinking of booking an afternoon tea in London it's worth noting that the Town House has a special offer on - if you book for Afternoon Tea online you can receive a free ticket to the Botticelli Reimagined exhibition, currently on at the V&A. So if your looking for a special place to eat or just love discovering new haunts in London; then I'd whole heartedly recommend The Town House in Kensington. This place has definitely won a special place in my heart.
