(Hi guys I'm kicking off September with a guest post written by the lovely Amy Mia Goldsmith, she's a fabulous writer and I'm so excited to feature her on my blog. You can read more about Amy at the bottom of the post).
We are surrounded with chemicals and all kinds of GMO products in all spheres of life. People turn to Nature in search for chemical-free solutions for their needs: cleansers, air refreshers, pesticide, shampoos, and soaps. For those who like to explore and dig into alternative ways to do ordinary things, opting for honey as skin care ingredient is the perfect solution since it has many benefits and good sides. It has been used to treat ailments since it had (and still has) many health benefits.
Not only can you exfoliate skin using honey, but you can also easily clear your pores and remove blackheads from your skin within minutes. Simply take half a lemon, add a few drops of honey on it, and rub it all over your face, focusing particularly on blackheads problem areas. Leave it on for five minutes and wash off with cold water – your pores will be squeaky clean. This mask will make your skin a bit lighter so make sure you wear sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat when you go out.
Considering the fact that honey has antibacterial traits, it is no wonder people use it to treat acne and hyperpigmentation. You can help your skin by using healthy mixture of turmeric, cinnamon, lemon, and honey. Half teaspoon of turmeric powder mixed with a teaspoon of cinnamon powder, add a tablespoon of lemon juice and another one of honey. Honey will reduce pain, open up clogged pores, eliminate bacteria and clean up your skin.
Honey is ultimate nature cleanser that will bring out your glowing complexion by exfoliating. You can use it in combination with different ingredients to get the best results: mix some honey with a tomato or two and squish them all together to get a thick paste which you will put on your face. Add several teaspoons of rosewater to a quarter of a cup of honey and keep this on your face for about 15 minutes, then wash off with cold water; this will brighten and lighten your complexion.
Anti Ageing Effect
Anti ageing face mask that gives incredible results and that can be made in no time will do wonders for your tired skin. Simply mix half of a banana with a quarter of a cup of yogurt and add a teaspoon of honey. Keep it on your face for about fifteen minutes and to help ‘soaking it in’, you can keep a warm wash cloth over your face. Your skin will be significantly softer and smoother, and this mask will help to reduce wrinkles. All this will make sense and give good results only if you focus on organic skin care ingredients, which means raw, unpasteurized, unfiltered honey with all its good ingredients still present, and organic fruit and vegetables too.
You can make your own medicinal salve in which you will be able to control all ingredients and change the recipe if you notice something does not suite you. Instead of regular sunscreen, use olive oil, comfrey, marshmallow root, wormwood, witch hazel bark, beeswax, and of course, raw, all-natural honey. Mix quarter of an ounce of each dried comfrey, marshmallow root, wormwood, and witch hazel bark, one and a quarter of a cup of olive oil, 4 ounces raw honey, and one and a half ounce of beeswax. Put it all in a mason jar, cover the herbs with one and a quarter cup of oil, stir and let it sit for a month and a half. Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth, add melted beeswax, and let it cool.
Honey used for treating your skin is a great way to use ancient formula of health and beauty once more. It is completely natural way to restore freshness and cleanse it without chemicals. Give it a try and you will notice just how beautiful your skin can look in no time.
