I'm totally crushing on Smith & Cult nail varnishes at the moment. I've recently just treated myself to 'Dark Like Me' A gorgeous oxblood/aubergine opaque colour.
I'm getting a little bored of nude shades on my nails and fancied a more vampy autumnal look. Smith & Cult nail varnishes are just gorgeous, the bottle is sleek (and heavy) and I just love the metallic lid with hammer dent that gives a great grip on the brush. For me - it makes painting just that tiny bit easier. (I am TERRIBLE at painting my own nails. As a trained beauty therapist and nail technician this confession is pretty shocking. I can paint other peoples I just suck at doing my own. Shameful)
The varnish itself is just the right consistency and spreads easily across your nails. The colour builds up with each coat - 1 coat covers lovely but 2 coats gives a more deeper even colour - you could even go for a third. It's glossy, doesn't bubble and dries fairly quickly. 2 coats (and a topcoat) has lasted me a full 5 days with no chipping. Which I'm super happy about as I can't stand chipped nails.
I love Essie and Chanel nail varnishes but I'm totally won over but Smith & Cult and will definitely be building up a collection. There's a large selection of colours to choose from - trouble is you'll want them all!
Smith & Cult nail polishes are available at NET-A-PORTER.COMand are £19 each.
