If your holiday hangover lasts longer than your tan then you need to invest in a good tan maximiser/accelerator.
If are an avid reader of my blog (I love you) you'll have caught my last post 'How To Get The Best Tan Ever' so I'm following up with a section on 3 tan maximisers that actually work.
Lancaster After Sun Tan Maximiser This world wide best seller is wonderful and I've used it on many holidays over the years. Applied after a day in the sun, this light aftersun lotion is cooling, moisturising and soothing on the skin. LANCASTER - Tan Maximisers wonder formula intensifies melanin production helping prepare your skin for another day in the sun. Resulting in a tan that's is deeper and longer lasting. Melanin is the pigment which gives skin its colour. A good tip is to carry on using after you have returned from holiday to help keep skin nourished and hydrated. It's suitable for the face and body it's so lightweight and smells of holidays. Priced at £22 for 125ml it's a lot more than your average aftersun lotion but you can usually pick it up in TK Maxx or in the Duty Free at the airport. In my opinion if you want a long lasting tan it's worth every penny.
Elemis Tan Accelerator To be used before your holiday; this gorgeous tan accelerator contains: shea butter, macadamia nut oil, jojoba oil and tyrosine. Tyrosine is an amino acid naturally found in the body and is used by skin cells to form melanin.
I used this for 2 weeks prior to my holiday to Cuba a few years ago and I had a lovely deep golden brown tan. I'm lucky that I tan quite easily l but I definitely believe this ELEMIS Tan Accelerator helped boost my tanning as I felt brown for ages after my trip.
The creamy texture smells beautiful and feels really luxurious when applied. It sinks in fairly quickly you only need to give it a couple of minutes before getting dressed. This is the more luxurious of the 3 (I think maybe because it smells heavenly) and I'd highly recommend. For best results apply twice a day 2 weeks before your holiday. As bonus your skin will also feel soft and supple.
James Read Tan Accelerator I brought this online from Space NK before my holiday to Australia in February. As the weather in Britain is freezing in Feb and I try my hardest to stay off sunbeds, I needed a little help to prepare my skin for the Australian sun. I used 2 weeks prior to leaving for Aus. This James Read Tan Accelerator is tinted so it gradually builds up a lovely light sun kissed glow. It's not like applying a fake tan but it does take the edge of wintery white pale skin.
It's suitable for face and body (I only used on my body) and you do need to wash hands after use to avoid a little staining. I continued to use for a week or so after my hols to keep my sun tan topped up but without turning into an oompah lumpah!
Just like the Elemis accelerator the James Read Tan Accelerator is also formulated to stimulate the skins melanin production speeding up the tanning process. You get 200ml in a gorgeous gold and white bottle and I'd probably say it's one of my fave holiday products to use. And one of the best products I've discovered this year.
So if you'd like a little help in the tanning department and would like to reach your full potential of being a bronzed goddess this summer then I'd recommend all 3 of the above products as they do actually work.
Have you used any of these tan maximisers? I'd love to hear your thoughts?
Happy Holidays and thanks for reading! Love L xxx
